Hair removal services are very intimate experiences, we understand vulnerability, so we strive to make our space as safe and inclusive as possible. We don't tiptoe around the elephant in the room, we embrace it.
Our Timeline & Mission
Founded by the owner Mia, Lovely Sugaring has been a sugaring salon since 2017. We started from humble beginnings. From our one room salon to what Lovely Sugaring is now. Our mission never wavered.
2017 - 2018
After being let go from a sugaring salon, Mia bravely used a personal credit card and her own tax returns to open a one-room studio. She used the funds to cover equipment plus first and last month's rent. She built exposure and community by offering free services through Facebook Groups.
2019
New Health Canada regulations requiring two sinks couldn't be met in her original unit, putting the business at risk. After meditating on a solution, Mia had a vision of a medical building, and soon after, a space became available. She relocated, expanded to a two-room salon, hired her first technicina Olenka, and launched a website she built in her spare time.
2020 - 2021
During COVID, Lovely Sugaring was deemed non-essential and forced to close. The landlord kindly reduced rent by half, Mia took the opportunity to lease the adjacent unit and expand into a three-room salon. She hired the first receptionist, added another technician, and welcomed Mila (the puppy and star employee) into the family.
2022 - 2023
Lovely Sugaring continued to grow. Alanna joined as a technician and Xilena was promoted social media manager. The team proudly marched in the Pride parade to support a cause important to them and their clients, then signed a lease in the same building for a five-room salon and received Fresha's Best in Class award.
2024 - 2025
Lovely Sugaring had a very busy couple of years. We raised over $1500 in support of Pride, and expanded our services to include Lash Lift, Brow Lamination and Pelvic Detox treatments. To share our journey, we made multiple social media reels focused on hair removal and introducing our team.
